Howard Altmann was born and raised in Montreal, earned degrees from McGill and Stanford, was a banker for a bit more than a bit ago, and has lived in New York City for a good bit of time. The author of two poetry collections, Who Collects the Days and In This House, his poems have appeared in Academy of American Poets, Boulevard, The Guardian, Poetry, The Poetry Review, Slate, The Yale Review and elsewhere. On his recently completed third collection, Notes in the Dark, John Ashbery called it “a quietly brilliant achievement.”
